Everyone starts somewhere

We actually stumbled on the idea of round brownies by accident during the 2020 lockdown. Like many people at the time, we baked a lot, experimented with new recipes, and of course… ate it all. That’s where our brownies first appeared. From the very first bite — that slightly crispy edge and warm, gooey chocolate centre — hit right at my chocolate-loving heart.

We kept improving the recipe, experimenting with different flavour combinations and sharing them with family and friends. Soon, it became “the dessert” everyone asked (and hoped ) we’d bring to braais, birthdays, dinners, and any get-together. We realised this could be something more.

At the beginning of 2024, we decided to start selling them as a little side hobby, with a simple goal to get into a few local coffee shops and see what happens. But bit by bit — or rather, bite by bite — things started growing.

Fast-forward to now: my husband and I run bite together, still baking every batch from our apartment kitchen and having almost sold 10,000 brownies to date.

And yes… our kitchen literally always smells like chocolate. We’re not complaining.

Our vision has grown over time, and we’re excited for what’s ahead. We want our brownies to bring joy… bite for bite. We always say: just taste them — you’ll know what we mean.

We’re not here to be “just another place that sells brownies” — we’re creating something extraordinary. And we’ll always prioritise quality: good ingredients, no shortcuts.
